| "Ekoshi" and "Venger" (Both WIP) |
[Nov. 16th, 2009|10:32 am] |

8.5" x 11", chipboard, pencil.
Both are works in progress. I scanned them in at this stage so I can do the "underpainting" digitally. Then I'll print out a high-resolution version to affix to board under gel medium and finish as a real media painted image.
The Venger image is just a test before doing the technique on the other, commissioned image.
The wolf guy's hands are going to be charred and smoky, as the character apparently spends his time handling the sun.
Also, Venger, Force of Evil.

So at work today, I got to do a tiny bit of interpreting over the phone! The man at the other end of the phone asked me to come on site, but I wasn´t allowed, due to lack of experience presumably. I hope I get do actually do some interpreting during my time here, it´d be awesome experience!
Anyway, here are some random interesting, amazing or just pure funny links I found on the Internet...
Suggestive toys from Russia... oh those Russians!
10 most unfortunate store names... a shop called Tits and a pharmacy called Farto!
Top 43 creative anti-smoking ads (very striking but some are a bit over the top, methinks)
A really talented artist who paints with coffee!
Taxidermy fashion accessories.
I have to admit, I have a slight fascination with taxidermy. In my parents´ house in Manchester, I have framed butterflies in my wall, and a fox´s hide. Dead animals, when arranged in a certain way, are just so beautiful. I don´t really agree with healthy young animals being killed just for the purpose of art, but if they´re already dead, or have to be put down, why not?
Also, I really want these - they´re just so beautiful:

I have found some where I can get some of my characters actually made into little statuette, figure kind of things.
What I need to know is anyone interested in having such a thing? And if so, which characters do you think you would like to see as a little statue or figure?
Let moi know you guys.

I wanted to give a shout out to all my fellow authors! This year, I'm working on a Steampunk novel for my National Novel Writing Month project, and would love some input!
my work is heavily grounded in the actual punk aspects of the genre, and I am very excited to be bringing that to the table!
As you might know, but as I certainly didn't know before joining NaNoWriMo, you have to put in a large number of words per night, and one of the fun exercises of the project is trope-writing.
What Punk and Steampunk plots and elements do YOU most enjoy!? I know what I like (mega corps, assassins, subjugation of truth...food etc.) but what do YOU like!?
My inquiring, writing mind wants to know!

| | accomplished | ] | Well, I seem to be like the rest of the world and have vamps on the brain... First the Southern Vampire novels, True Blood (would those count as one?), then The Vampire's Assistant, also two versions of Vampire Diaries... kinda Twilight(watching them fight in the day-time is just wrong!) I am happy to report that though I have many vamps in my head, none of them are in my NaNo! Yay! Just need to try and keep it that way, if I have another story after this with Lynn, then maybe I will let a vamp in, but it will be with the warning that he/she will burn in the sun, not become an art project.
(I like the colors on this one) |

To Roger Corman. It is good that he finally got his Oscar. I have always liked his work. One of his movies is on the list and close to the top of my fav sci fi films ever. Battle Beyond the Stars. (and I am managing to finally get a copy of it again.) I also love the fact he was one of the stunt drivers for the original The Fast and the Furious and that he has had roles in so many movies like Silence of the Lambs and even had a cameo in The Howling.
having probs with the heat and everything swelling.
arrrggh.
I shall return.

| Only a week to go for Prometheus Bound's First Anniversary Extravaganza!!! |
[Nov. 16th, 2009|11:34 am] |
For anyone in the Brisbane Australia districts, or hell even if you're from anywhere else. I'm trekkin from Sydney for this affair cos its just too cool to miss! Brisbane's Premier Steampunk nightclub is having its first birthday! Can you believe its already been a year??

And what a night we have in store for you!
Club 320 will be transformed into dual rooms of sensory overload featuring the talents of:
No Standing Cello Quartet Opalesque Bellydance Troupe Burlesque by Red Devotchkin Roving Performance by Elke Pixie The PB Audio Corps
The icing on the cake? Voodoo Lulu Alternative Clothing struts the boards with a fashion preview of visual magnificence.
Are you reeling? A little hot under those crisp collars and tight-laced corsets? We certainly are. And that isn't all.
Prometheus Bound plays host to a celebration of Razorjack, the "hard-boiled SF noir" from the embarrassingly talented John Higgins; better known for his work on Judge Dredd, 2000AD, Hellblazer, The Hills Have Eyes, Batman: The Killing Joke, and Watchmen.
PB will be partying on an international scale, with Com.X holding a sister party in the UK. To celebrate (and possibly tear holes in the fabric of reality), anyone showing up in a Twist Bitch costume gets discounted entry. Want to know more? Download the 22 page teaser here; then visit your friendly purveyors of comic-y glory at Ace Comics Brisbane City for the trade collection.
On top of that we are running a raffle. Not your usual pay-some-money-to-possibly-win-something-you-really-don't-want kind of raffle.
We have Prize packs galore! Full of fantabulous goodies from Wondermark by David Malki (yes THAT Wondermark, the comic strip of Victorian glee), Dr. Steel, Com.X comics, PB's own bits and pieces and an assortment of other deliciousness.
Have no fear, for we will still be running our patented brand of audience participatory freebie giveaways. But be warned, the trivia will be harder and we are introducing charades.
Doors shall be opening one hour early, 7pm to be precise, so that we may get through all of the above.
For now we must depart in search of tea. It will be a pleasure to see you on Saturday, 21st November at Club 320!
--The PB Crew
When: Saturday 21st November 2009 -- From 7PM
Where: Club 320, Basement Entrance, Cnr Leichhardt & Boundary Sts Spring Hill.
Cost: $15/$8conc (conc = Student/HCC/Pension/4ZzZ Sub Card Holders, Toy Soldiers, Twist Bitches & Other event stamped or ticketed peoples)
Hope to see a whole bunch of steamy people there ready to PARTY! |
